Red Jet sets sail with PSP

Posted: 18 June 2009

Showing once again its skill and experience in boat transportation, PSP recently excelled itself carrying out a highly complicated, technical job – loading two 70 tonne Isle of Wight ferries, Red Jet 1 and Red Jet 2 and shipping them from Southampton to the Caspian Sea.

After 18 years’ service and clocking up an amazing 1.2 million miles each, transporting passengers across the Solent, the ferries were sold to a company called Caspian Mainport. The ferries will start a new life in Kazakhstan, transporting workers to and from an oil rig.

The logistics of the task were very challenging and high levels of skill and expertise were essential to its success.

PSP managing director Frank Dixie said:

“It was a highly skilled technical job and there were just inches to spare, but we got there and everyone was happy.”
